HHG drums 14x5.25 Handmade Brass With Solid Brass Bespoke Hoops 2022 Satin Lacquer

At HHG we started making our own metal shells about 5 years and haven't looked back. This is the latest expression of that- a classic 2mm thick bell brass in a crispy 14x5.25 size.

The shell itself is the real centerpiece of this drum. Made from raw 2.4 mm bell brass plate- the metal is rolled, welded, seam blended, hand drilled, bearing edges polished, and proprietary snare beds cut- all by hand in our shop in Pennsylvania. After all that we apply a coat of satin lacquer inside and outside to protect the metal from oxidation and fingerprints.

This thickness of brass is perfect for drums, much thicker than your average foreign made, paper thin, spun snare shell. It allows the instrument to be incredibly mechanically strong, but still sound amazing. Not only that but the rolling and welding technique we use makes for a shell that has just the right amount of temper and tension in it to really breathe life into every note that is played on it.

We finish off the decadent shell with nothing but the best hardware. Our signature HHG Single Point lugs, diecast butt plate, diecast airvent, diecast bronze badge, rock-solid 2.3mm triple flange hoops, top notch INde strainer, and puresound snare wires.

The Hoops are also handmade. They are  5mm inch solid brass that has been rolled and welded, then the laser cut tension rod flanges are also welded on. These hoops are as heavy duty as they come. Their rigidity and mass making tuning a breeze, and they can also take any punishment you can dish out. However, thier single flange design allows minimal contact to the hoop collar which allows for the most open and natural tone possible.
