Running OS 3.5
Key Upgrades in OS 3.5 Compared to Earlier Versions
- Rich Plate Algorithm: A modified version of the legendary Lexicon 224XL Rich Plate was added to the ROM, bringing roughly 70 new presets with it.
- Six New "Split" Algorithms: Added Chamber, Dual Delays, Mono Pitch Shift, Compressor, PONS (dithering), and Small Stereo Adjust.
- Enhanced Dual Machine Capabilities: Offers advanced signal chains and routing configurations for running dual independent processes.
- Extra LFO: An additional LFO was introduced for deeper modulation control (adjusted in Setup Edit and used as a patch source in Mod Edit).
- Advanced Timecode Control: Timecode can trigger changes in both Setups and Effects, as well as parameter glides.
- Stability Fixes: General bug fixes and performance refinements compared to the early 1.x firmware releases.
Does OS 3.5 Sound Different?
- The core sound engine for the original reverbs remains identical. However, because OS 3.5 introduces new algorithms, more presets, and superior routing, it makes the unit vastly more versatile. Users of older versions generally feel they are missing out on the newer modes (like the Rich Plate and split programs) rather than experiencing a difference in the raw audio quality of the legacy reverbs.
