FET1-TR “Caplawball” — High-Quality FET Compressor Pedal
The FET1-TR “Caplawball” is the pedal version of the Dual FET Compressor “Caplawball” rack unit.
It retains the familiar feel and response of classic FET compressors while adding modern features such as a MIX knob and Sidechain HPF switch, giving you greater flexibility when shaping your sound.
Designed with practical pedalboard use in mind, Attack, Release, and Sidechain HPF are controlled by simple two-position switches. This keeps operation straightforward and intuitive, making it easy to adjust your compression quickly, whether you're playing live or in the studio.
High-Quality Audio Transformer for Depth and Presence
The FET1-TR is equipped with a high-quality audio transformer, giving the sound added depth and presence that helps it stand out naturally within an ensemble.
It also has a distinctive sheen and character when heard on its own.
For players who prefer a faster, more direct response and want to prioritize the character of the original signal, a transformerless version is also available.
LED Gain-Reduction Meter
The built-in LED gain-reduction meter makes it easy to see how much compression is being applied.
This is especially useful when changing instruments or working with different input levels, allowing you to quickly check the amount of gain reduction and make adjustments with confidence.
Blend Your Sound with the MIX Knob
The MIX knob lets you blend the original signal with the compressed signal, giving you precise control over the amount of compression character and texture.
Whether you want subtle compression and a little extra feel, or a much heavier, more pronounced squash, the MIX control lets you find the balance that works for you.
Simple Switch-Selectable Attack, Release & Sidechain HPF
Attack, Release, and Sidechain HPF use fixed values selected by two-position switches.
The standard settings are:
- Attack: 0.2 ms (Fast) / 10 ms (Slow)
- Release: 100 ms (Fast) / 570 ms (Slow)
- Sidechain HPF: 150 Hz (In) / 30 Hz (Out)
These settings were selected through extensive testing, and OZ Design recommends the standard values.
However, each switch can be customized within the following ranges:
- Attack: 0.2 ms – 20 ms
- Release: 100 ms – 1 sec
- Sidechain HPF: Completely Off – 330 Hz
The customization fee is ¥4,000 (tax included), whether you customize one switch or all three.
When ordering the Value Custom option, simply specify your desired settings in the notes section.
Example custom request:
- Attack: 1 ms (Fast) / 25 ms (Slow)
- Release: No change
- Sidechain HPF: 220 Hz (In) / 60 Hz (Out)
The Signature Caplawball Cat
The FET1-TR carries over the familiar cat motif from the Dual FET Compressor.
The image of a cat pawing at a ball of yarn — the signature Caplawball artwork — is just as charming on the pedal as it is on the rack unit.
Put it at your feet and enjoy bringing a little feline character to the stage.
Power Supply Precautions
Some adapters and power supplies use a soft-start mode, which can potentially cause the internal charge-pump IC in the pedal to malfunction.
The FET1-TR includes an internal protection circuit designed to help prevent problems caused by slow startup. However, in rare cases, a power supply with an unusually slow startup sequence may still cause a malfunction.
If the pedal does not operate when DC power is connected, first plug the adapter into the wall outlet (or turn on the power supply), and then connect the DC cable to the pedal.
