USED ZILDJIAN K Zildjian 1980s EAK Crash 18" / 1484g
A 1980s Zildjian K Zildjian EAK (Early American K) 18" Crash has just arrived.
The EAK series remains one of the most sought-after eras of American-made K Zildjians, prized for its dark, complex overtones and musical character that differ noticeably from modern K models. Versatile enough to function not only as a crash but also for light ride work, it offers exceptional tonal depth and flexibility.
This particular cymbal features pronounced hammering on the bell, while the top surface displays the distinctive lathing and finish associated with EAK cymbals. Interestingly, the underside shows lathing patterns commonly seen on late EAK and early IAK-era cymbals, making it an especially intriguing example from a transitional period.
At 18" and 1484g, it delivers a quick response with a balanced sustain, making it suitable for a wide range of musical styles including jazz, rock, and fusion. The rich, nuanced sound that vintage K Zildjians are famous for is fully present here, offering a character that modern cymbals rarely replicate.
The logo has faded, and the cymbal shows overall signs of use and stick marks consistent with its age. There is also slight keyholing at the center hole. However, it remains in good vintage condition and retains the authentic character expected from a well-played EAK cymbal.
