A detailed reproduction of the preamp section from a Fender tweed 5E3 Deluxe, using an all-discrete JFET signal path. Volume and Tone controls replicate the 5E3's circuit part for part, so this behaves like the amp rather than a generic imitation of it — clean up with your guitar's volume knob and it responds the way a real tweed does.
Four knobs plus a mode switch: Presence, Tone, Master, Volume, and a Hi/Lo toggle. Lo mode gives the cleaner side of vintage tweed response; Hi is like swapping in hotter tubes for more gain and attitude. Presence works around the 5kHz range for dialing in bite or warmth. Push Volume all the way and you get the low-end resonance and grit that made the 5E3 famous, without the flub — the output section is voiced to stay tight even when you dig in.
Range runs from clean jazz tones at low settings to full-on breakup at the top. Low output impedance drives your amp cleanly.
9–18V DC, 5mA draw. No SMD parts in the audio path — hand-built, through-hole components.
