Part of Tokai's Original Series from the early 1980s, the SX38 offered a more modern take on the traditional Stratocaster formula. Finished in aged white with a matching headstock, it pairs a maple neck and rosewood fretboard with a comfortable 22-fret layout. The twin Tokai single-coils and straightforward volume, tone and three-way switching deliver bright, punchy tones with a distinctly surfy character that leans more toward a Jaguar or other vintage offset designs than a typical Strat. Like many Japanese-built Tokais from the era, it combines solid craftsmanship with plenty of personality.
