This is a 2002 Epiphone Casino, manufactured at the Peerless factory in Korea. For a 24 year old guitar, it's in outstanding shape. Note the few dings on the headstock and a crack on one of the tone knobs. Other than that, it looks and, more importantly, plays great. Original Epiphone case included.
Upgrades:
- Lollar Pickups - I had a set of the Lollar P-90s that Lollar makes specifically for the Casino (Low Wind neck and Standard Wind bridge) professionally installed. The original pickups are included but the Lollars are clearer and more balanced than the originals, which I thought were a bit woofy. The Lollars have nickel covers on them, an upgrade over the chrome covers that are normally included with Lollars. (From Lollar: "This pairing is ideal for an authentic vintage Casino sound, with the Low Wind neck adding a little more brightness for improved clarity and definition.")
- Lollar Casino Pre-Wired Pots and Capacitors with the .022 Paper in Oil Capacitors. From Lollar: "Using the popular ‘50s-style wiring scheme, this kit is the perfect upgrade for your Epiphone Casino or Gibson / Epiphone ES-335 or similar models with ES-style control layout. ‘50s wiring changes the location of the tone capacitor so high frequencies are more or less left intact with changes to the volume control, while there is a small decrease in volume when rolling down the tone control." All original parts included.
- The Lollar parts alone are a $460 upgrade, not including professional installation.
- I hate to sell it, but my loss is your gain. If you know the history of Epiphone Casinos, the Peerless-made versions are valued for the quality of the construction. Whether true or not, this guitar was well made, sounds and plays great, and will hold its value.
