Befaco x Mylar Melodies Random8

RANDOM8 is an eight channel random voltage generator, with per–channel looping, in just 8HP. Its our first collaboration with our m8 Mylar Melodies!

It is designed to bring any sized system to life, squeeze the most out of all the musician’s other modules, and help people perform and jam music.

It is a sequencer, a system animator, and a sort of LFO.

The module provides 8 independent stepped (or smoothed) random voltage generators packed into as compact size as possible, with an output attenuator for each channel, controlled with a small trimmer pot. By pressing a button, channels can loop, making randomness into something intentional.

• Channels can permanently loop, or partially loop, evolving slowly over time. You tap the button to cycle between looping or slowly evolving, or you can double tap to return a channel to producing randomness.
• A pitch quantizer can be turned on for each channel, making any channel into a musical sequencer.
• Different styles of random distributions are available.
• Probability lets a user make it less likely that a channel will create a voltage on a step.
• Slides lets a user name the hard steps between changes smooth, which in combination with probability and divider, allows for slow evolving smooth voltages to be generated.
