Where the Jupiter-8 was a keyboard instrument, the MKS-80 crams eight voices of pure analog synthesis into a 2U 19" rack enclosure, making it the ultimate studio module for serious analog tone. Unlike most Roland synths of the era, the MKS-80 features true voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) rather than DCOs, giving it that extra warmth and organic character that players obsess over.

It's an 8-voice polyphonic, bi-timbral synth with dual oscillators per voice: saw, square, pulse, triangle and noise waveforms with PWM, sync, and FM, a 24dB/oct resonant low-pass filter, high-pass filter, two ADSR envelopes, and full MIDI velocity and aftertouch response. Pads, leads, drones, strings, basses, this thing does it all with a richness that no plugin has ever quite replicated.
