The Fat 64 Stratocaster Relic Aged Sherwood Green Metallic over Red Sparkle electric guitar is part of the Fender Custom Shop's 2024 limited edition, which introduced Fender Stratocaster guitars with unique color finishes - Aged Lake Placid Blue over Purple Sparkle, Aged Aztec Gold over Gold Sparkle, Aged Candy Apple Red over Orange Sparkle and Aged Sherwood Green Metallic over Red Sparkle. The two-piece alder body is decorated with a well-aged Aged Sherwood Green Metallic over Red Sparkle color finish, where the Red Sparkle finish shines through under the green varnish, and a Relic finish with authentic-looking artificial patina elements in the form of small scuffs, scratches and scars. The guitar thus gives the impression of an instrument that has already had some of those years of playing and flaming in clubs and bars. The neck made of 2A quality quartersawn maple offers a period 1963 Strat C profile. The same quality flamed maple fingerboard is fitted with twenty-one Narrow Tall (6105) frets and black micarta position dots. A set of three Custom Shop Hand-Wound Fat ’64 single-coil pickups provide the guitar with beautifully articulate mid-’60s Stratocaster sound with more robust bass, punchy mids and beautifully clean highs. The middle pickup is reverse-polarized and wound to suppress hum. Vintage Modified #2 wiring with Tone-Saver Bleed circuitry allows for high-end cut without accentuating bass frequencies. The strings are held in the company’s vintage-style tuning machines and synchronized Custom Shop tremolo. The stylish workmanship is underlined by a three-ply parchment pickguard.
