100% MOJO !!!!!
This amp has the genuine patina earned from 63 years of work! I have played 1300 gigs myself with it since 1999 and it never let me down once. It looked like this when I bought it and I chose not to recover it. It has just been serviced and a few capacitors and resistors were replaced. It sounds brilliant. The Celestion Greenbacks are of course non original but are vintage in their own right. I have two of these amps ( the other being fawn and 1965) I do not play live any more so sadly one or other needs to go to a good home. I am in no hurry so I will not accept low offers.
Serial number: 6711
Brief confirmation of year from GROK:
Yes, your Vox AC30 with serial number 6711 and copper control panel is from 1962.The photo of the serial number plate confirms classic early JMI (Jennings Musical Industries) features:"VOX AMPLIFIER" header "MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND BY JENNINGS MUSICAL INDUSTRIES LTD" MODEL No. AC30 (no "/6" or "T/B" suffix visible, suggesting it's a standard Normal model, likely AC30/6 N) Voltage rating 115/255V (common for export/dual-voltage early models) Hand-stamped appearance (typical pre-1964/65 transition) Key dating indicators from reliable sources (especially voxac30.org.uk, the premier reference for JMI Vox amps):Copper control panels were introduced in late 1961 (replacing black panels) and remained standard through 1962 and into early/mid-1964 (when grey panels began appearing more frequently). Serial numbers in the high 4000s to 5000s are firmly late 1961–1962, often paired with beige/tan/blonde cabinets and copper panels. Examples from documented amps:Serials around 5000–5800s have component date codes from mid-to-late 1962 (e.g., speakers/transformers coded "JG" = September 1962, "JG" variants into fall). By early 1963, serials climb higher, and by 1964 they reach 10,000s (e.g., 10000s–11000s = late 1963/early 1964 copper panels; 12000s+ still copper but transitioning). Your 6711 fits squarely in the progression for 1962—after the ~5000s range but well before the jump to 10000s in 1963–1964. No exact match for 6711 appears in public listings or databases (these amps are rare and serials aren't exhaustively cataloged), but the pattern holds: 6000s align with mid-to-late 1962 production.
