The Yamaha FX550 is a vintage half-rack digital multi-effects processor released in the early 1990s as a specialized successor to the legendary FX500. Designed specifically for guitar and bass, this Made-in-Japan unit is celebrated for its unique 16-bit "Simul-Effect" architecture, which allows it to process up to seven high-quality digital effects simultaneously.
The FX550 features a chain of modules including compression, distortion, equalization, and amp simulation, alongside advanced modulation and reverb/delay sections. Unlike its predecessor, the FX550 introduced a dedicated pitch shifter and significantly faster patch-switching times, making it more practical for live performances. The unit comes pre-loaded with 50 factory presets and offers an additional 50 user slots for custom patches.
Features MIDI IN for external automation, stereo outputs, and dedicated jacks for bypass or tap-tempo footswitches.
Some of the best modulation and plate-style reverbs, perfect to recreate ethereal, wash-like textures reminiscent of 90s new-wave, post-rock and indie rock.
Works like out of the box and goes with the original power supply.
