The Banana Fuzz has everything that the most expensive and revered fuzz pedals produced around the world offer: 1/2W Carbon Comp resistors (hand-selected by me with a 5% tolerance), NOS axial capacitors (Philips or Siemens), external Bias control, and germanium transistors from the 60s or 70s (Toshiba, Matsushita, Texas Instruments, and others). The key difference lies in how these transistors are selected: they are meticulously tested and chosen based on their gain and leakage current, taking into account our tropical climate. And trust me: ambient temperature makes a TOTAL difference in the behavior and sound of a germanium transistor—when the temperature is higher, internal leakage current increases, the circuit becomes noisier, the note decay becomes more gated, and the pedal doesn’t clean up as well when you roll back the volume control on your instrument. In other words, your expensive imported germanium fuzz doesn’t sound here the way it was designed to sound in a cold-climate country.

We have here a Fuzz made with the world’s best components but tailored to our climatic reality, offering low noise levels, incredible sustain, an absurdly musical texture, and a dynamic response to the guitar’s volume control that’s envy-inducing, achieving the elusive “glass tone” even with hotter output pickups.

The Banana Fuzz, like any good Fuzz Face derivative, needs to be placed at the beginning of your signal chain, before pedals with buffers, and used with a good cable and a guitar with passive pickups. The germanium version of the Banana Fuzz must be powered by a battery (included with the pedal) or a power supply with isolated outputs, as it has reverse polarity compared to the Boss standard.
