About this listing
1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom – Wine Red (Player’s Grade) – I am selling an authentic 1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom in a Wine Red finish. Serial number: 00128720 (Norlin era). Electronics: Original pickups. Build / Playability: The headstock was repaired by a professional luthier (MJS in the Occitanie region); the repair is perfectly stable, and the guitar holds its tuning flawlessly. It has also been recently refretted, offering a modern, comfortable playing experience with low action. Aesthetics: The control knobs have been replaced with "Top Hat" silver-insert knobs. Shows normal signs of wear consistent with its 50-year age. Accessories: Includes the original Gibson "Chainsaw" (SG1) hardshell case (all latches are in perfect working order). 🪵 Wood & Construction Specifications (1976 Features) Body: Features the "pancake" construction typical of this era—two layers of solid mahogany sandwiching a thin maple veneer. Top: Three-piece carved maple, allowing the grain to show through the translucent Wine Red finish. Neck: Three-piece maple with a volute at the headstock for added reinforcement. The use of maple in 1976 provides increased rigidity and a punchier, more precise sustain compared to mahogany. Fretboard: Genuine ebony—dense and dark. Inlays: Traditional Custom-style mother-of-pearl blocks. Binding: Multi-ply white/black/white on the body and headstock; single-ply on the neck (aged to a beautiful, slightly yellowed patina). Price: €3,000, shipped with full insurance. In-person handover in or around Toulouse is preferred (price adjusted to €2,900 if not shipped). A trial is possible.
