The M-EQ Driver is a boutique mid-boost, overdrive, and EQ pedal handcrafted in England, inspired by the legendary Pultec MEQ-5 studio EQs of the 1950s. Rather than simply reproducing them, Origin Effects adapted their famous mid-range curve for the guitar and added a true overdrive stage, a transformer, and a push-pull output with behavior similar to a tube amp. The pedal offers Drive, Level, Mid, and Cut controls, a KCS selector for three mid-range frequencies (0.8, 1.0, or 1.3 kHz), and Adaptive Circuitry technology, which automatically reduces treble attenuation when the guitar volume is lowered or the playing is softer, thus preserving the clarity of the tone. It can be used as a clean boost, a transparent overdrive, a mid-boost to cut through a mix, or a more aggressive "cocked wah" type distortion. Built with high-end components, a studio-quality buffer, and an input impedance of 1 MΩ, it is particularly appreciated for its harmonic richness, dynamics, and ability to make the guitar stand out in a band without distorting its character.
