VIDEO! Framus 5/110 Atlantik Thinline Guitar ~1965 made in Germany

General introduction and background:

Completely restored and play-ready: beautiful and rare Framus 5/110 Atlantik, made in the mid 1960s in West Germany. The Atlantik is a thinline model with two singlecoils and a singlecut body. Sadly the label inside the guitar is torn, so a concrete date cannot be identified.

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-Scale:  628 mm

-Nut: ca 40,5 mm

-Weight: 2,8 kg

-Pickups: two Framus Singlecoil pickups, measuring at 6,78K (B), and 6,73K (N), controlled with 2x2 volume, tone, and individual slider switches for the pickup; a third switch provides a slightly thinned out rhythm circuit.

-Body: laminated woods (probably spruce), all hollow

-Neck:  slim soft V-shaped mahoganey with rosewood fingerboard, flat radius (likely 12’’), small frets.

Condition:

-Body: Good condition with some dings and dongs (see pics); hazy areas of the lacquer. Sadly the label inside the body is torn.

-Neck: good condition, straight, trussrod works, some dings and dongs, fretboard with slight fingernail carvings, frets at 6/10 condition with some crevasses, yet little to no buzz.

-Head: good condition; someone installed a different string retainer than the original, and drilled up the tuner holes to fit 10mm tuners.

-Hardware: in good shape

-Electrics: works; the rhythm switch works very subtly. A very subtle bass cut.

-Originality: all original except for the bridge, string retainer, tuners, and tremolo arm.

Sound and Playability:

-Playability and string action: really good playability with low string action (no modern shredding comfort, but works well if you know your way around)

-Sound: Please watch the video. It’s not as bitingly twangy, but delivers a very nice wooden and slightly microphonic singlecoil sound and is suited for a broad variety of genres.

Repairs, Service:

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

-Completely cleaned

-Frets polished and fretboard cleaned

-New 10 gauge Pyramid all nickel strings put on

-Setup concluded and ready to be played (just tune it up)

Auxiliary stuff:

-no gigbag or case included. The item will be wrapped well, and put into a sturdy cardboard box with lots of filler material. If you wish I can buy a fitting case or gigbag at your costs.

AFTER DELIVERY: After receiving the item, please inspect the package for obvious damages and make photos if there are any. After unpacking, check the item immediately for damages or other undocumented flaws. I accept a 14 days return and will pay for shipping if the item is in a different condition than described upon arrival. Please note that I will only take the item back entirely, but not grant any reduction of price and generally only accept returns if the item was unaltered after arrival.

CITES protection: all of the items I sell have been legally imported to the EU before January 1st 2017 and are registered with the authorities in Hamburg, Germany (if applicable).
