Exposed String Beam like ones played by Mickey Hart

The ES (Exposed Strings) model beam will be custom-made for you. The beam is approximately 70" long, 6" wide and 4.5 inches tall. It features 11 strings. 8 of the strings are tuned to D1 (the first D on a full-sized piano at 36hz). The other three strings are tuned to D2 (one octave up). Both examples pictured feature custom touches not included in the base price. Included with an ES Model is the beam with aluminum fretboard and one pickup block.

The pickup blocks are special. Clad in exotic wood and powder coated aluminum, these pickup blocks can be moved to any location on the beam frame. They have two 18v active EMGX pickups (3.5" and 4.5"). The two switches are for power on/off and mono/stereo. In mono mode both pickups can be blended without loss using the knob on the left. In stereo mode, each pickup is routed to its own output. The volume knob, on the right, is always active. The outputs are a combination of 1/4" or XLR, which allows you to use microphone or guitar style cords. Moving the pickup blocks allows the player to choose where the best placement is depending on what is being played. The exposed strings allows the player to make deeper dives using a slide and greater access with a bow. The stereo option allows for two separate signal paths that can be routed to different effects and through different speakers.
