The SYNERGY PLEXI Preamp Module offers guitarists the classic sound of a British stack amplifier, a tone widely recognised as fundamental to rock music. Originating in the 1960s to meet the demands of louder performances by influential artists, these amplifiers established a benchmark for rich overdrive. Iconic British amps have continued to shape hard rock and metal music for decades.

Among these British amplifiers, the Plexi stands out as particularly significant. It has been used by numerous influential guitarists across various rock genres, contributing to many defining riffs. Originally designed to provide increased volume and distortion for the burgeoning hard rock scene of the 1960s, Plexi amplifiers became synonymous with the sound of rock guitar. Due to the limitations of early public address systems, achieving the desired tone from a Plexi typically required high volume levels. Despite this, their popularity has endured, indicating a preference among guitar players for this sonic characteristic.

The SYNERGY PLEXI Preamp Module, designed by Dave Friedman, aims to provide this iconic Plexi sound with authentic tone and feel. A key advantage of this module is its versatility in terms of volume, allowing for use in both live performance and silent recording environments. The module features two channels, enabling users to easily switch between rhythm and lead tones. Each channel is equipped with Input I and Input II controls, mirroring the input linking functionality of original Plexi amplifiers. This provides precise control over the gain structure. Driven by 12AX7 tubes, the Synergy Plexi Preamp allows guitarists to incorporate the established sound of rock guitar into their sonic palette.

The module includes two channels, each featuring gain, Input I, and Input II knobs. Both channels share a three-band equaliser for tonal shaping.

A notable feature of the SYNERGY PLEXI module is a three-position Cathode Select Switch. This switch allows users to adjust the input tube bass response, emulating different circuit configurations found in original amplifiers. This patent-pending feature affects the overall feel and tightness of the sound. By offering three popular component combinations, accessible via the switch, guitarists can experiment to find their preferred setting. The PLEXI module is shipped with the switch preset to position 2, which corresponds to the configuration of a classic Marshall Plexi (2.7K resistor and .68uf capacitor).
