The Yamaha CD-S3000 is Yamaha's flagship Super Audio CD (SACD) and CD player, made in Japan and released in 2013 to mark the company's 125th anniversary, designed to pair with the flagship A-S3000 integrated amplifier. It plays SACD, CD, and CD-R/RW discs, and also functions as a high-resolution USB DAC — a first for Yamaha — accepting PCM up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD via its asynchronous USB-B input, along with optical and coaxial digital inputs. At its heart is the ESS Technology SABRE ES9018 32-bit D/A converter, paired with a Yamaha-developed original IC, delivering an exceptional 116 dB signal-to-noise ratio and very low distortion. The player features a symmetrical internal construction with the digital and analog circuits separated from the power supply, a newly designed high-precision disc mechanism with heavy anchors, and a high-rigidity aluminum CD tray for superior vibration control. It offers both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs, digital outputs, and a Pure Direct mode.
