The ThorpyFX Scarlet Tunic is an analog amp emulator built around the sound of the rare Selmer Treble & Bass 50, an amp closely associated with Syd Barrett’s early Pink Floyd tones. Originally developed for Lee Harris of Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets, the Scarlet Tunic goes beyond the original Selmer brief, incorporating tonal characteristics of the Hiwatt DR103 and Vox AC30.

A transformer-coupled circuit gives the pedal an unusually amp-like response, moving from light, crispy breakup into full-on saturated drive while retaining the dynamics and feel of a real amplifier. Bass, treble and presence controls allow the character to be shaped from smooth and restrained to bright and aggressive, while Deep and Bright switches provide broader control over the low and high end.

A three-position Sensitivity switch changes the gain structure, functioning much like the different input sensitivities found on vintage amplifiers.

The Scarlet Tunic can be used as an always-on preamp, a vintage amp replacement, or as a drive stage alongside an existing amplifier and pedalboard.
