I am offering here a Fender American Precision Bass 60th Anniversary Fretless from 2006, manufactured in Corona, California (USA), luxury limited edition version of the Fender Precision Bass, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Fender, as a 4-string version with solid alder body, bolt-on maple neck with Modern “C” neck profile and 41.3mm nut, professionally converted premium fretless ebony fingerboard with 9.5’’ radius, flexible Fender American Vintage ’57 Split singlecoil pickup, long 864mm scale length, high-quality Fender Open Back Geared tuners, as well as a Fender Deluxe Brass bridge with four individually adjustable stainless steel saddles, finished in a brilliant 3-Color Sunburst high-gloss finish, in very good condition, including black Thomann hardshell case, manufacturer’s documentation, and professional setup with 43-100 Thomastik Infeld flatwound strings.

The Fender Precision Bass is one of the most significant instruments in modern music history. Introduced as early as 1951, Fender established the mass-produced solidbody electric bass with this model and created an instrument whose fundamental design has remained virtually unchanged to this day. This particular example dates from 2006, marking Fender’s 60th anniversary. The American models from this era combine the traditional Precision design with modern playability and high-quality U.S. hardware—and this one has been professionally converted into a custom fretless instrument!

The tried-and-true combination of a solid alder body and a bolt-on maple neck delivers the direct response typical of a Preci, with a powerful fundamental tone and a pronounced midrange foundation. However, the elaborate conversion to a fretless ebony fingerboard gives the bass a distinctly unique character: the hard and dense ebony ensures precise response and outstanding definition, while the fretless design enables the characteristic singing “MWAH” transitions, smooth slides, and the finest intonation nuances of a fretless bass. With its 9.5" radius and comfortably shaped Modern “C” neck, the playing feel remains familiar and comfortable.

At the heart of the sound is the Fender American Vintage ’57 Precision Bass Split Single-Coil. The classic split pickup delivers a powerful, organic Precision sound with voluminous bass, prominent mids, and a pleasant warmth in the highs. Especially when combined with the fretless ebony fingerboard, this creates a tone with exceptional character, ranging from warm, round rhythm tones to articulate, vocal-like fretless sounds.

The long 864mm scale length ensures classic Fender string tension and a defined bass foundation. A high-quality Fender Deluxe Brass Bridge with four individually adjustable stainless steel saddles allows for precise intonation and action adjustment, while the robust Fender Open Back Geared tuners ensure reliable tuning stability.

Visually, the vibrant 3-Color Sunburst high-gloss finish harmonizes perfectly with the three-ply parchment pickguard, the chrome hardware, and the dark ebony fingerboard!

The Fender American Precision Bass was built exclusively for the company’s 60th anniversary. As a fretless version with an ebony fingerboard, it is now a one-of-a-kind custom instrument.

This bass is in very good condition and technically flawless. Visually, there is only isolated superficial wear (see photos).
