For sale is an original blue Akai MPC1000 Music Production Center.

The MPC1000 remains a highly capable standalone sampler and sequencer, offering the classic hands-on MPC workflow in a compact and easily transportable format. It provides 32-voice stereo sampling, 64-track sequencing, four pad banks, extensive MIDI control and a powerful set of sample-editing and sequencing functions.

Condition and testing

The MPC is working well overall. It powers on correctly and runs on 240V power, the display is clear and the sampler, sequencer, controls and remaining pads operate as expected.

Two pads, Pad 7 and Pad 11, are not currently functioning. The physical damage to these two pad surfaces can be clearly seen in the photographs.

The fault is isolated to the pad assembly. A replacement MPC1000 pad and sensor upgrade kit would restore functionality across all 16 pads. Compatible replacement assemblies remain available for both the blue and black MPC1000 models.

Aside from these two pads, the unit is operating well. It can also be triggered from an external MIDI controller in its present condition, allowing the sampler and sequencer to remain usable before the pad assembly is replaced.

The price has been reduced accordingly to account for the cost and installation of the replacement pad sensor assembly.

Cosmetic condition

The MPC displays visible signs of previous use, including marks, scratches, worn areas and discolouration across the casing, controls and pad surfaces. Pad 7 and Pad 11 do not work and have been marked to stop me from hitting them.

The screen remains bright and readable, and the original blue and red casing retains its distinctive appearance.
