Here is a really beautiful Martin OM-45 Roy Rogers Commemorative Edition, and an especially significant example as this is one of only four prototype instruments produced — prototype #2 of 4.
This is a truly rare and highly collectible OM-45, built with the full level of “Style 45” ornamentation and pre-war-inspired construction, and it carries the added historical importance of being directly tied to the prototype development of the model. The internal label is signed by Roy Rogers Jr. and C.F. Martin IV, and the neck block is stamped “Martin & Co. Est. 1833 OM-45 Roy Rogers Prototype 1089674”, further confirming its unique status.
Visually, this is a spectacular instrument with all the expected Style 45 appointments, including extensive abalone top and back purfling, snowflake fingerboard inlays, torch headstock inlay, grained ivoroid binding throughout, and ornate bridge and pickguard accents. It has the kind of detail work that makes high-end Martins immediately recognizable at a glance.
Beyond the aesthetics, it is built with pre-war inspired specifications, including an Adirondack spruce top, soft V neck profile, 25.4" scale length, and approximately 2-3/8" string spacing at the bridge, giving it both traditional feel and exceptional responsiveness.
The neck feels very comfortable, measuring approximately 1-3/4" nut width, 0.85" at the 1st fret, and 1.00" at the 12th fret, offering a classic OM profile that is both substantial and easy to play.
Tonally, this guitar delivers exactly what you would expect from a top-tier Adirondack/rosewood OM—open, wide, and incredibly resonant with long sustain, excellent note separation, and a lively, blooming response that “rings forever”.
Condition is excellent overall, with no obvious scratches or dings noted. While it is a pre-owned instrument, it presents extremely clean and has clearly been very well cared for, so we are conservatively calling it excellent condition.
It comes complete with the original hardshell case and accompanying paperwork as shown.
