About this listing
Gibson Hummingbird Custom from the 1970s! The "Hummingbird" is a typical square-shouldered guitar created in 1960. You can see the soundhole label with [HUMMINGBIRD CUSTOM] printed on it, which was pasted from the early to mid 1970s. Originally, it was Gibson scale, but there was a period of 25.5" long scale from around 1965 to 1984. Around 1971, the double-X bracing that characterized Gibson guitars of the 1970s was introduced, and continued until around 1984. The double parallelogram fingerboard inlay, one of the characteristics of the Hummingbird, became a block inlay around 1971 and continued until around 1984. Made in USA, Kalamazoo factory Square shoulder body with spruce top and mahogany side/back. Non-scalloped double X bracing with down belly bridge. Nut width of just over 43mm, 3-piece mahogany neck with long scale volute, and rosewood fingerboard with binding. The head is equipped with GIBSON engraved Grover rotomatic pegs. * Bridge pins and end pins have been replaced. Maintained by a well-known guitar workshop! Neck angle adjustment, fingerboard correction, fret replacement (jescar vintage), nut and saddle replacement (cow bone), bridge back veneer glued and machined, top brace re-glued. The truss rod still has plenty of room and the frets have been replaced, so there is plenty of height left. There are many dents, scratches, and scuffs, but considering the age of the guitar, it is relatively clean. There are some cracks and age-related bumps on the fretboard binding (the part that touches the bottom of the frets), but they are not peeling off, so there are no problems. The guitar has some signs of use and age, but the playability is good. Gibsons from the 70's tend to be neglected, but that trend has been reevaluated and reappraised quite a bit in recent years. This is another one not to be missed! It sounds loud and straight, and you can feel the core sound even on single notes! Item rank: B: Fairly scratched and used, but no problem in normal use.
