Brand new and in their boxes, waiting 50-odd years for a guitar to call home. This is from the collection of a retired Luthier and has been deep in storage since being shipped to New Zealand in 1982 after being purchased in London in the mid 70s.
Insanely versatile and very, very rare pickups, hand-wound full of secrets by Legendary pickup winder Red Rhodes in the 1970s. These have been used by many a great guitar player but are probably best known as the lone Humbucker on Joan Jet's Iconic Melody Maker. This pickup exceeds expectations in everything from jazzy single coil clean tones to beefy Humbucker tones that sound like with... well, "bad reputation". Anything you throw at it, it’ll handle like it was made for it.
Have a peek at the diagram for an idea of how Red Rhodes envisioned it wired and check out this old print ad from when these came out. I'm happy to try to answer any questions, just send me a message.
I'm shipping these from New Zealand via DHL and have so far not had any issues sending to Canada or the United States. The cost of shipping is included in the price of the listing. Import fees and tariffs for the U.S. do not apply as the pickups were made in the USA and will be declared as such. If there are any issues with the pickup I'm happy to sort out a return.
This Auction is for a pair in Cream White. If you check out my shop, I also have a pair in black.
