Rare VOX Saturn 1968s - Sunburst VIDEO

Vox guitars not only boast incredible looks and mojo, but they also possess unique sonic personalities and fascinating configurations.

This VOX Saturn model appeared in the 1968 catalog; it is a true hollowbody—meaning no center block—resulting in a very prominent acoustic tone. You know I love this type of construction; it’s perfect for playing unplugged on the couch when you don’t feel like hauling out your favorite tube amp.

The guitar is lightweight, resonant, and beautifully balanced—much like the finest thinline hollowbodies.

The single-coil neck pickup is incredibly responsive and complements the instrument's build perfectly, offering a great attack, excellent balance, and a clear, dynamic sound. It has less output and less low-end richness than a P90, making it—in my opinion—far better suited for hollowbody guitars (less feedback!).

The maple neck features a rosewood fretboard and a slim, fast profile, complete with the narrow frets that were highly prized back then.

It has just undergone a full inspection and setup in the workshop and plays beautifully; it feels comfortable and responsive, reacting well to playing nuances.

I recorded two clean demos, but the guitar is also well-suited for driven, reverb-drenched tones—think psychedelic, classic 60s vibes.

If you’re a fan of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Brian Jones, or other musicians with a distinctive sound, you’re going to love this!
