This 2011 Epiphone "John Lennon Inspired" Revolution Casino (Model E230TD) is a highly regarded, high-tier tribute guitar that captures the exact spirit and sonic profile of the iconic instrument John Lennon modified and played during The Beatles' late-era period. The History Behind the "Revolution" ModelJohn Lennon originally purchased a sunburst 1965 Epiphone E230TD Casino. By 1968, following a suggestion from folk singer Donovan, Lennon stripped away the heavy sunburst factory finish down to the bare wood, believing it allowed the guitar to "breathe" and improve its acoustic tone. He also removed the pickguard, swapped the standard tuning pegs for gold Grover tuners, and left it in its iconic natural state. This is the exact stripped-down configuration replicated by the "Revolution" version, famously seen in the 1968 Revolution music video and the 1969 rooftop concert featured in the Let It Be film.
