Designed for both Stereo and Mid-Side mastering applications, this equalizer combines the musical character of the legendary Neumann W492 with a high-pass filter (18 dB/octave) based on the renowned Neumann HT75.
Featuring two relay-switchable hand-wound output transformers (crafted in-house), contributing gentle harmonic coloration while preserving clarity and detail. Rotary and toggle switches only, with no potentiometers used.
Built with high-quality components, all hand-matched to a 0.1% tolerance between the left and right EQ channels, ensuring identical EQ response between channels while maintaining a stable and accurate stereo image.
- Band Gain control is calibrated in precise 0.5 dB increments.
A 3-position multiplier band gain switch provides three modes:
±5 dB mastering mode (0.5 dB step)
±10 dB (X2) mix mode (1 dB step)
±15 dB (X3) tracking / sound design mode (1.5 dB step).
- In M/S mode, the left channel is assigned to MID and the right channel is assigned to SIDE.
- True hard bypass via relay routes the input directly to the output, fully bypassing all circuitry when engaged.
- Individual bypass for each EQ band and the HP filter, with independent ON/OFF switching for fast A/B comparison and maximum operational flexibility.
- Integrated stepped input trim control provides gain staging and accurate level adjustment before the EQ section.
- Nichicon Muse capacitors are used in the audio signal path for high transparency, and consistent, neutral signal reproduction.
- The HP filter uses Siemens NOS yellow MKL capacitors, delivering a clean and natural low-end with smooth, transparent filtering and tight, controlled sub frequencies.
- The low shelf uses large Siemens NOS Styroflex capacitors, delivering a tight and well-defined low-end with fast transient response, no smearing, and natural clarity without muddiness.
- The low-mid bell combines Siemens NOS yellow MKL and Siemens NOS Styroflex capacitors, delivering a rich and controlled midrange with fullness, clarity, and analog character.
- The high-mid bell uses Siemens NOS Styroflex capacitors, delivering a smooth and detailed upper midrange with clear presence, controlled forward character, and precise transient response.
- The high shelf uses Siemens NOS Styroflex capacitors, delivering a smooth, airy and refined top end with extended high-frequency detail, natural openness, and a clean, non-fatiguing response without harshness.
