Because of its unique BJT input stage, the Brownie "disintegrates" when the preamp tube begins to distort. In addition, it features an asymmetrical clipping circuit that allows you to mimic some of the characteristics of a real tube amp. Also, by handling bass frequencies - which can become muddy when distorted - it keeps the lows tight.
To round out your tone, the NUX Brownie simulates the Variac effect by reducing the voltage going into the amp using a tone control low pass filter. The tone has an adjustable range. The power supply circuit is built using two red LEDs and a modern low-noise OP-AMP. It has the ability to produce symmetrical clipping that smoothly distorts both halves of the signal. The bypass's exceptional signal purity is due to its bypass circuits, which feature a premium TPDP mechanical footswitch.
