UGLY HORRIBLE SOUNDING DEVICE.

The AEG ELA M 300 is a massive, all-metal broadcast-style dynamic microphone from postwar Germany. It was clearly built to last a thousand years—and possibly outlive civilization itself. Unfortunately, what it gained in durability, it completely lost in audio quality.

This is model produces far the worst sounding mics ive ever heard and here are a couple reasons why

ALL SIGNAL IT PRODUCES IS A RELATIVLY DETILED PAINFULL HIGH END BELL THAT WILL KILL YOUR EARS IMMEDIATELY.

NO MATTER WHAT YOU USE IT FOR - IT WILL MAKE IT SOUND INSTETLY HORRIBLE WHILE MAINTAINING JUST ENOUGH PAINFULL INFORMATION TO CONVEY WHAT WAS RECORDED -SHARP, HYPER NARROW HIGH-END BELL THAT SLICES THROUGH YOUR EARS. NO WARMTH, NO BODY, NO PRESENCE. JUST PAIN.

BUILD & DESIGN

It has no built-in holder, no standard thread, and no angle adjustment. a wheel switch on top has no indication of what it does. it seems to not effect the audio but it does produce a terrible click when switching. The metal cast body is industrially painted in one of the most unattractive shades of brown ever formulated. Originally equipped with a brittle and badly assembled cable, this unit has been fitted with a proper XLR connector

SOUND CHARACTERISTICS

This ELA M 300 produces a relatively detailed signal, but unfortunately, that detail lives entirely in the most painful upper frequencies imaginable.

Whatever you record—speech, music, ambient noise—it will sound worse through this microphone. Even a calm piano ambient will make you immediately suffer - but if you put it close to a guitar amp I imagine the result to be dangerous to human ears and mental health.
