This parlor guitar, made by Thomas Féjoz in 2012, was the subject of an article by Jacques Carbonneaux at the Issoudun violin making show. Here is what he had to say about it: To conclude this tribute to Thomas Féjoz and his remarkable work, I would like to present his parlor 00 model, which features a cedar top and back and sides made from a wood species whose characteristics I would like to present to you, as it is rarely used in guitars. It is satinwood or Ceylon swietenia (Chloroxylon swietenia) from the Rutaceae family. Golden yellow in color, it is very dense, very flexible, but not very shock-resistant and moderately rigid. However, it is very resistant to transverse compression. The average density of satinwood is approximately 980 kg/m3 after drying. I'm spending a few moments on this wood type to introduce you to wood types other than rosewood, mahogany, and others well-known in guitar making. In terms of sound, the cedar/satin combination provides deep, present bass, midrange with plenty of bite, and clear, brilliant highs on this Parlor 00. The overall sound is quite dry yet rounded. This small body offers strong projection, making it ideal for fingerpicking and also for a pick. Very balanced, this guitar is much more versatile than you might think. This model doesn't use mother-of-pearl, but instead uses satinwood, rosewood, and amaranth for the bindings. Even in its understated style, Thomas Fejoz makes his guitars pure marvels. Oh yes! Just a touch of mother-of-pearl for the fretboard inlays at the 14th fret! What elegance and what a sound! The instrument hasn't moved since; it has been played and treated with care. It comes with its hard case. You can also see it played by Michel Gentils at the same show at this link:
