Very old 4/4 violin of likely French or Italian origin from perhaps late 1700's to early 1800's. Has old repair of F-hole crack and old repair of rib cracks around the tailpiece button, and two saddle cracks (cracks originating at the saddle due to natural shrinkage of the top. The repairs all are stable and old. Nicely shaded oil varnish, boxwood fittings. Has a mother of pearl dot on the neck button which was likely associated with a long-ago neck reset. Peg holes have been bushed which is common for a violin of this age. Has quality woods and workmanship, Sounds great with excellent clear voice, looks great, and plays great. Length of back is 14" (356mm) and string sounding length is 13" (330mm). Includes a functional vintage case suitable for shipping. (vn6_22)
