Hello!

I’m selling my 1998 PRS CE 24, made in the USA, in its original Raspberry finish, which has naturally evolved over the years into beautiful Tortoise Shell hues. This colour is no longer available in the PRS catalogue, except as a custom order.

A beautiful late-’90s PRS from the brand’s historic American production, now associated with what is known as the Core range. Unlike modern CE models, which have a flatter, less sculpted top, this guitar features the same carved top as the Custom models.

With its characteristic bolt-on neck, typical of the CE series, it delivers a sharp attack, excellent note definition and plenty of personality.

The pickups are an HFS in the bridge position and a Vintage Bass in the neck position — a winning combination for PRS.

The HFS delivers excellent aggression for high-gain tones, harmonics that are easy to coax into screaming feedback, and tight bass response, making it ideal for modern riffing and solos. The Vintage Bass is much less compressed and sounds beautiful clean or with a touch of crunch. Its tone is warm and smooth.

This is an incredible guitar that has clearly been played, which is a testament to the build quality of PRS instruments from this era and, above all, to its sound!

At 28 years old, it remains in good overall condition. There are a few small dings in the finish around the edges of the body. Nothing unusual for an instrument of this age that has seen its fair share of live use. See the pics.

The frets are in very good overall condition.

A few modifications have been made to make the guitar more practical and enjoyable to use:

• The original 5-way rotary selector has been replaced with a more convenient 3-way toggle switch. The original rotary selector is included, allowing you to restore the original pickup-splitting options.
• The original PRS locking tuners have been replaced with Kluson tuners, with no additional holes drilled and no irreversible modifications to the headstock. The original tuners are also included, although one of them is no longer working. Kluson tuners were actually used by PRS in the early days, before the brand switched to locking tuners.

The guitar comes with its original PRS hard case.

A great opportunity to own an American-made PRS from this era, with all the character of an instrument that has been played and enjoyed, yet carefully looked after.

Collection in person is possible in Alsace, in Paris, and along the Strasbourg–Geneva route (on either the French or Swiss side), as well as in the surrounding areas, depending on my travel plans.

Shipping is possible via UPS, using particularly robust protective packaging. Shipping insurance will be at the buyer’s expense.

I have several listings available and am open to trades for a Gibson R8, R9 or R0. I would also consider trading two guitars for one, or even three depending on the model.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or would like more photos. I’ll be happy to help!
