Vintage JBL 4311/B Studio Monitor - Manufactured in 1980

The JBL 4311 (and its successor, the 4311B) represent one of the most significant chapters in the history of professional audio monitoring. Designed primarily to be placed atop mixing consoles in large recording studios, they are the direct commercial predecessors of the famous JBL L100 Century home Hi-Fi speaker. This item comes complete with an instruction manual.

Components and Acoustic Architecture

• Low-frequency woofer (JBL 2213H): A 30 cm (12-inch) transducer with a treated paper cone (“white cone”) and a ferrite magnet. It delivers dynamic, fast, and impactful bass.

• Midrange (JBL LE5-10): A 13 cm (5-inch) cone housed in its own isolated chamber to prevent interference from the air displaced by the woofer. It is responsible for the legendary reproduction of vocals and guitars characteristic of the “JBL sound.”

• Tweeter (JBL LE25-2): A 3.6 cm (1.4-inch) direct-radiating cone tweeter with a felt ring around the dome to reduce diffraction on the front panel.

• Front-panel presence controls (L-Pad): Features two continuously variable potentiometers on the front panel to independently adjust midrange and high-frequency levels, allowing you to adapt the response to the listening environment.

• Cabinet Configuration: Front-ported bass-reflex. The front baffle layout is also designed for upside-down installation (suspended in control rooms).
