This Gibson 1960 Explorer GA-18 in tweed is in excellent condition. This is a great sounding little amp with vibrato on board, and just look at it - that handle is the icing on the cake!The GA-18 is a 14-watt combo running two 6V6 power tubes, a 5Y3 GT rectifier, and two 12AX7 preamp tubes. The speaker is a Jensen Special Design P10R (10"), original to the amp with a 1960 date code. The speaker was reconed in 2002. The cabinet is finger-jointed pine and plywood covered in original tweed with an oxblood grille.I performed a cap job, replacing only the electrolytic caps that needed updating. The power cable was also upgraded to a grounded one. All the tubes were tested, and the pots and tube sockets were cleaned. The covering, cabinet, grille, baffle, chassis, knobs, handle, power transformer (Gibson GA 18 P, model 524017), output transformer (Gibson GA 18 O, model 166940), and potentiometers (137 6005) are all original. The RCA 5Y3 GT rectifier tube and Gibson-branded 6V6 power tubes are present; the preamp tube brand is unconfirmed.
