Beyerdynamic M500n Silver (Very Rare)

I'm selling a vintage Beyerdynamic M 500 N – original silver edition microphone.

This is the genuine late-60s / early-70s original unit, not a modern reissue or later production variant.

The M 500 N is a classic hypercardioid dynamic ribbon-style microphone from beyerdynamic’s golden era, housed in a distinctive handheld broadcast form. Designed for live vocal and speech applications, it delivers that unmistakable tight, focused midrange with smooth top-end roll-off, making it especially desirable for natural, present vocal capture without harshness.

Originally introduced in the late 1960s (around 1969) and produced through to the late 80s/early 90s, the M 500 series became a staple of European broadcast and live performance use. It earned a reputation for its clarity, feedback resistance, and warm but controlled vocal character, and remains a sought-after tool for producers chasing authentic vintage vocal tone.

Made in West Germany, during beyerdynamic’s most iconic production era.

This silver finish version is increasingly rare, particularly in well-preserved condition like this one. A true collector’s piece, but also a genuinely usable studio microphone with a very distinctive sonic signature that still holds up in modern production.

The microphone has been tested and produces a clean audio signal. There is a small dint on the basket which can be seen on the third picture. The black carrying case also has some white marks present.
