LOUDER Retrograde (Traynor TS-50B inspired)

Retrograde by LOUDER, which is me. This is my take on the sound of the classic Traynor TS-50B bass amp as heard on countless recordings by Steve Albini and others. At the heart of the TS-50B are three fixed filter elements that split the signal into high, mid, and low bands, which are then recombined through a coupled array of transistors. Each band distorts slightly different than the others, producing a really interesting and grind-y tone that can range from mild harmonic distortion to full-on doom tones with massive sustain.

Only the "Tri-Comp Network" (as Traynor called it) circuit is carried over, everything else is different. The TILT and bright switches are pre-distortion network, while the EQ blocks are post distortion. The TILT allows you to influence how much low vs high end is distorted in the network, while the EQ section allows you to add or subtract bass and other frequencies to taste without affecting the overall distortion character.

Bass and Treble controls are a passive James tone stack, while Low and High mid controls are active boost/cut. The mid controls can be moved prior to the distortion element with an internal switch for a different flavor of EQ/Distortion interaction.

Hi/Low gain switch gives you the full range of mild saturation to probably entirely too much saturation.
