Pirles FB-5R 5-String Banjo w/ 5th String Capo & Chipboard Case

Up for sale is a Pirles FB-5R 5-string banjo complete with its original chipboard case and factory-installed sliding 5th string capo.

Pirles instruments were produced in Japan during the 1960s and 1970s and have developed a following among players looking for affordable vintage Japanese instruments with plenty of character. This FB-5R is a straightforward open-back banjo that delivers the bright, snappy tone and lightweight feel that make these instruments enjoyable for folk, old-time, and casual picking alike.

We recently cleaned and inspected the banjo here at the shop. It plays nicely and remains in very good overall condition. One particularly neat feature is the sliding 5th string capo mounted along the side of the neck, allowing quick key changes without the need for railroad spikes or other modifications.

Cosmetically, the banjo has been well cared for over the years. There are a few light scratches, dings, and signs of normal handling wear throughout, but nothing excessive. The head remains clean, the hardware presents nicely, and the neck and fingerboard show only moderate evidence of use. Overall, it is a very presentable vintage instrument.

The original chipboard case is included. The case shows expected cosmetic wear from age and storage but continues to provide protection for the instrument. A strap is also included.
