The D42, along with the D45, is one of the most striking dreadnoughts in the standard Martin lineup. However, "standard" isn't a term we'd associate with this model, because it's simply a fantastic guitar!

This D42 features carefully selected Indian rosewood back and sides, which, together with a Sitka spruce top with forward-shifted scalloped bracing, form the heart of the instrument and are responsible for the signature Martin dreadnought sound.

What sets this D42 apart from the other dreadnoughts in the standard lineup are the ivoroid bindings and Style 42 abalone inlays found not only on the body, but also on the neck, fingerboard, headstock, and even the bridge! The gold-tone Grover open-geared tuners, combined with the abalone block logo on the headstock plate, give the instrument a certain authority that matches its powerful tonal character.

And speaking of sound, this guitar has the sound you'd expect from a top-quality dreadnought; extremely powerful, remaining clear and brilliant even at the higher registers. This isn't simply a D28 with more inlays; it's a guitar on a whole other level!

This D42 is from 2022 and is in excellent condition. There are some light scratches on the pickguard, the bridge pins have been replaced, and the guitar previously had a pickup installed. Overall, the guitar looks very clean. A very complete, well-playing, and great-sounding guitar that also looks stunning!
