SCHERTLER SP - STEEL STRING GUITAR
The Schertler SP acoustic guitar was a very short lived run of electro acoustic guitars by the Swiss acoustic amp manufacturer. It dates somewhere around 2008-2009 and was designed by Claudio Pagelli.
The top is solid moon cut (whatever that might be?) spruce and it has rosewood back and sides. It has a comfortable size somewhere between parlor size and a conventional guitar. 18 frets on an ebony board. ebony rosette, ebony bridge and tuning knobs. Onboard you'll find a combination of a contact mic and a bluestick pickup. Extravagant looks with multiple sound shaping options.
Comes with original semi hard case and adjustment tool.
I marked this one as "very good" however it was only used few times. There are some string scratches on the headstock and a very small scratch near the output jack. The factory label in the sound hole is missing. The case is used and has collected some dust.
Overall a very rare quality instrument with sweet tones and stunning looks.
NECK
The satin mahogany neck has an ebony fingerboard with a flat profile to help players enjoy this instrument even more. The truss rod of the steel-string version allows adjustment in both directions to obtain a perfect shape on the neck in all positions. The nut is made of bone.
BRIDGE
The solid ebony bridge guarantees a perfectly flat surface ā an important criterion for the even response of the electrostatic Bluestick under-saddle pickup. Like the nut, the saddle is also carved in bone and is precisely fitted to give a string angle of 12°. This facilitates transmitting the string vibrations to the Bluestick with greatest efficiency and offers better compensation in tuning when string action is raised or lowered.
BINDING
The guitar is bordered by an elegant rosewood binding, contrasted by a fine binding line in maple.
HEADSTOCK
The headstock is reinforced by a 3 mm thick piece of ebony for better tone and to create the elegant optical effect of an elongated fingerboard. The lightweight slotted headstock adds to the overall balance of the neck and reveals the original Schertler machine-heads. These are of the highest quality, timeless elegance and feature lightweight ebony knobs.
ELECTRONICS
Schertler stands for the top end of acoustic instrument amplification and so this outstanding guitar is equipped with the most accurately reproducing transducers and electronics available. With all parts made in Switzerland, the DUAL-onboard system offers the combination of an electrostatic under-saddle pickup (Bluestick) and an electrodynamic contact mike (D-DYN) mounted to the top, providing a comprehensive range of sound from great natural acoustic to a sound that cuts through even on a loud rock stage.
CONTROLS
Bass, Middle, Treble, Blend-mix (Bluestick left - D-Dyn right), Volume, Battery check with a blue led power indicator. Adjustable on the circuit board are also the Gain and Phase reverse for the D-DYN. The circuitry is built for highest accuracy in discrete Class-A technology with 27 transistors (!), an effort never before seen in guitar electronics.
BATTERY SOCKET
The battery socket is situated on the bottom of the guitar just below of the Jack (phone) plug input.
Use a standard 9V battery to power the electronics, it will last more than 200h playing time.
