We have sent this away to Luke at Pitman mic for service. The ribbon and cable have been replaced and the mic fully gone over. Service receipt will be included in the sale.

RCA BK-5A Vintage Ribbon Mic Mic ribbon appears to be original. This BK-5a is from 50's-60s. It functions well although it looks fairly well used these mics were built tough. Cable housing is old and cracked and could use replacing for use in a professional environment but it still works fine. The shock mount is detached from the yoke that connects to the mic needs a nut/bolt of some sort. This mike will work in a fairly generic shock mount also as the body is fat like a large condenser mic.

The RCA BK5 work exceptionally well on drums and famously an electric guitar secret weapon. These microphones were designed intentionally to handle hight SPL and are hypercardiod in nature, both unusual characteristics for a ribbon mic!
