Rare vintage Ludwig Pioneer in blue silver duco finish with the WFL/Ludwig Transition Badge.
Most pioneer snares are 14x5, this one is 14x5.5
The Transition Badge is a rare gem because this badge was only in use between 1958 and 1959, when William F. Ludwig (who was then making WFL drums) bought back the Ludwig name. In this period shells and hardware from both stocks were combined.
Shell is date stamped 14 Apr 1959 in the beautiful clear mahagony interior.
Wfl logo on buttend and strainer, all original parts.
The paint had a lot of flaking when i bought it 4 years ago. I treated the shell multiple times with renaissance wax (wax used by museums worldwide to preserve old furnature and paintings). So the current condition is now “stable” and well maintained. I think its very nice this way. If it was a “relic guitar“ prices would go trough the roof ;)
Sounds like a million dollars and looks great with that vintage mojo.
