Antique E Martin 4/4 full size violin

A beautiful early 20th century violin by Wilhelm Ernst Martin (b.1862, d.1907) — who studied under E. Glaesel and produced violins in Markneukirchen, Germany -- which for centuries has been a principle violin making town in Germany noted for fine craftsmen and excellent violins. Martin specialized in building replicas of Lupot, Arnati, and Stradivarius models, crafting violins in the Cremonese style. String sounding length of 12 15/16" (328mm), and length of back is 14" (355mm). The single piece back, sides, and neck are of nicely figured maple, top is fine grained spruce, and the whole finished with a shaded amber oil varnish. The label indicates E Martin , and features the Martin lyre logo on the back and the Martin monogram on the neck the button. The instrument is in very good condition with beautiful traditional woods and a slightly darker shaded amber/brown varnish. Has a great voice, easy playability, and looks great, too. Includes a good oblong wood case.
