1989 Yamaha MSG Image Deluxe - Red

Here is a rare Yamaha MSG Image Deluxe from 1989. These were designed to mimic the feel of a solid body Gibson 335-S by Martyn Booth for only a few years. The guitar is mostly original including the Yamaha GH-1 Alnico 5 humbuckers. From what I know, the only non-original part is a third strap button added to the upper horn. Has a 22-fret, 25” scale length with an ebony board. The neck is a slim C for fast playing. The tone knob has a push-push pot to split the pickups into single coils.

The guitar is in great shape for its age showing regular cosmetic play wear and superficial pick marks from normal use. It has no breaks, cracks or repairs done. There are minor dings shown in the pictures. The headstock has clouded up a bit. Not sure what caused this but it was this way when I got it. Nothing affects the playability of the guitar. The tremolo is missing one fine-tuning screw but the locking nut pieces and trim arm are included. The arm is original, and swings freely when in. I don’t know the mechanism to tighten the collet if a firmer arm is preferred. It may be that you have to remove the bridge to adjust it. I’m not a huge Floyd-style floating bridge fan, so I’ve rarely had the arm in. It is currently set up with five springs on the trem block to give it more of a firm, hardtail feel.

I will pack the guitar well and ship it insured inside its original hard case. All sales are final so please ask any questions you have before purchasing or making an offer. I can take more pictures if needed. International buyers please message me to discuss actual shipping costs to your region.
