Orpheus Hebros mid 70s - Red Burst
Orpheus Hebros Thinline Bass (made in Bulgaria in the 1970s). Short Scale 30".
An iconic Eastern Bloc model, completely redesigned and upgraded by a professional luthier into a true studio and stage instrument, offering both vintage and modern tones along with excellent playing comfort.Body, Woodwork & Aesthetics
- Original Base: Semi-hollow body with F-holes and original woodwork preserved to maintain its authentic vintage charm. 6lbs.
- Frets: Original frets fully serviced with a professional fret leveling (planimetry) and polishing.
- Original Finish: Stabilized original finish with heavy checking, giving it a stunning natural "Relic" look.
- Custom Armrest: An elegant rosewood armrest/pickguard has been added. It provides a unique touch while neatly hiding old screw holes from a previous left-handed conversion.
- Neck Angle: Neck pitch/angle corrected for optimal action and playability.
- Neck Joint: Custom bolt-on modification/mount to drastically improve neck stability.
High-Quality Hardware Upgrades
- Tuners: Upgraded to vintage German Framus tuners, offering excellent tuning stability (far superior to the original ones).
- Bridge: Genuine Hofner bridge installed for optimal vibration transfer and a classic retro look.
- Tailpiece: Custom-made tailpiece.
- Nut: Custom-designed and hand-carved by the luthier.
Boutique Custom Electronics & Pickups
The rudimentary original electronics have been replaced with a high-end, versatile, and completely silent configuration:
- Pickups: Custom hand-wound Humbucker set by Crel Pickups (mini-humbucker format / Hofner style, Overwound, Alnico V). They deliver a warm, woody, and defined tone that perfectly complements the semi-hollow character.
- Controls:
- 1 Volume for the neck pickup
- 1 Volume for the bridge pickup
- Push-Pull option on one volume pot to switch the pickups to series wiring (providing a massive output boost with a very fat and powerful sound)
- 1 Master Tone
- Standard 1/4" (6.35 mm) output jack (goodbye original DIN socket!)
Playability & Setup
- Fully serviced, set up, and intonated.
- Strung with a fresh set of Fender Flatwound strings (50 gauge), perfect for getting that deep, round, and typically 1960s "thump" bass sound.
A unique bass with an irresistible look, combining the soul of European vintage gear with the reliability of a high-end modern instrument.Careful and secure shipping guaranteed.
