Few Firebirds are as extravagant, historically significant or genuinely collectible as the 1994 Gibson Firebird VII Centennial 100th Anniversary .

1994 marked 100 years of Gibson , and rather than commemorate the occasion with a simple anniversary badge, Gibson created an extraordinary Centennial Collection. Twelve different models were released throughout the year — essentially one featured instrument for each month — with the Firebird VII representing September . Production was extremely small, with only around 100 examples of each model , individually numbered within the Centennial sequence from 1894 to 1994.

The choice of the Firebird VII was fitting. The VII had always been the flagship of Gibson's radical Firebird family, combining the unmistakable reverse-body design with three Firebird mini-humbuckers, neck-through construction, a bound fingerboard and deluxe appointments . The Centennial version took that already flamboyant design considerably further.

Gibson decorated these guitars with details created specifically for the anniversary collection. The Centennial Firebird features 22-carat gold-plated hardware , diamond details incorporated into the controls and Gibson logo, a special 100th Anniversary mother-of-pearl fretboard inlay , an anniversary Orville Gibson medallion on the rear of the headstock and a jeweled sterling-silver Centennial serial-number plate. These weren't cosmetic touches borrowed from another production model; they were part of an exceptionally elaborate package conceived specifically for Gibson's centenary.

With it's original case, case candy and protective cover.
