Perhaps the most compact amp with 18W of tube power you can buy - and it sounds amazing, too!

Obeid Khan isn’t just a fantastic guitarist (just search for him on YouTube!), he also knows how to build amps: With the PAK amp, he set out to deliver a powerful sound (with distinct Marshall undertones!) in a tiny package. And because everything is packed so tightly together, Khan added a fan to effectively prevent overheating.

The two-channel head boasts numerous features. Here are the key specs:

  • Dual Concentric Gain and Master Controls
  • (3) 12AX7 and (2) 6AQ5 tubes
  • Bright, Channel, Presence and Boost Switches
  • Channel and Boost foot switchable
  • Treble, Middle, Bass tone stack
  • Buffered FX Loop Send and Return
  • Speaker response simulated balanced line out
  • Silent operation with internal 8 ohm load resistor
  • Speaker Impedance selector - 8 and 16 ohm
  • Built in cooling fan with on/off switch
  • Made in USA custom Heyboer transformers
  • 18 watts at 5% THD
  • fixed biased
  • Compact size: 9" x 7" x 2 1/2"
  • 6.5 lbs total weight
  • price; $1599

Obeid Khan again: “Not 5 watts. Not 10 watts. 18 all-tube WATTS, Class AB, fixed-biased at 5% THD. Players have described the PAK as ‘louder and tighter than a Deluxe.’ The secret… military-grade 6AQ5 output tubes.”

But what’s the story behind the 6AQ5 and 6005 tubes?

“Used extensively in TVs and radios throughout the ’50s and ’60s, the 6AQ5 miniature 7-pin pentode is equivalent in specification to the venerable 6V6. A full 18 watts of clean power is delivered with a conservative power supply of well under 400 VDC.”

I’m happy to include 8 (!) 6AQ5 / 6005 replacement tubes from JAN (made in the USA); the standard 12AX7 preamp tubes are widely available anyway…:-)

This sleek head amp has a few signs of wear, and the lettering has also faded slightly in a few places. Overall, however, it’s in good condition, both visually and functionally. The PAK II comes in a handy plastic case that keeps the amp well protected at all times.

Warning: This unit runs on 220VAC! Not US voltage!

Any additional customs duties and taxes have to be paid by the buyer!
