For sale is my Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Historic Reissue (R9) from 2002 in Cherry Sunburst, aged by Tom Murphy.
It is one of the early Tom Murphy-aged Historic Reissues from long before today’s Murphy Lab era.
The guitar has a particularly interesting and well-documented history:
It was previously sold by Sweetspot Guitars, where it was explicitly documented as a 2002 Gibson Les Paul 1959 Standard Historic Reissue – aged by Tom Murphy.
In addition, I have a personal email from Tom Murphy confirming the aging of this specific guitar by serial number.
There is no COA. This is not unusual for these early Historic Reissues from 2002. The documentation mentioned above, including Tom Murphy’s personal confirmation, is included.

The guitar is in very nice condition. Naturally, the visible checking and signs of aging should be considered in the context of the original Tom Murphy aging.
The combination of early Tom Murphy aging, 2002 production year, a weight of only approx. 3.88 kg / 8.55 lbs, an exceptionally beautiful top and documented provenance makes this a particularly interesting example from the early Gibson Historic era.
