The First Impact Fuzz Unit is essentially a Fuzz War 2 clone I modified with a Three-Way Diode Clipping Switch and Tone Bypass.
This fuzz is a beast, it has a ridiculous amount of gain and can get louder than you’ll ever need it to get. The tone control is super wide sweeping, going from sub bass sludge to piercing clangs highs. Although it does really clean up well at lower gain settings, giving you more overdrive-y tones, then paired with my additions it becomes a super versatile tool.
My additions:
Three way clipping switch - let‘s you choose between the stock Germanium diodes, no diodes (my favourite) or silicon diodes. Giving you three different flavours of fuzz.
Tone bypass - Even though the tone control of this pedal is fantastic, the bypass switch removes it completely from the circuit, letting the open, unfiltered fuzz shine. This mode is massive, raw and unapologetically loud. (This and no diodes is my favourite setting)
This is a 1/1 Evangelion inspired version I made for fun. The finish is definitely DIY but I think it looks sick. It’s had a couple of layers of clear coat so it’s pretty durable and should hold up to normal use. Unfortunately the backplate does have a few marks but you’re just gunna chuck Velcro on it anyway.
