Reverend Charger Cleancut in Powder Yellow
The Reverend Charger is among the most recognisable guitars in Reverend’s range, beloved by players who want a simple guitar evocative of the earliest mid-century bolt-on’s. Part of Reverend’s appeal is a commitment to continuous development of their range, and this latest Charger Cleancut is no exception. The familiar body has been ever-so-slightly slimmed down for increased comfort and lighter weight, while a new solid aluminum string block provides a stable and solid anchor for the strings, improving sustain, clarity, and tuning stability. The Roasted Maple neck is as good as ever, while a new “Charger” logo sits proud on the headstock.
The Charger Cleancut is fitted with two pickups from Reverend’s sister company, Railhammer. Benefitting from from the same design genius behind Reverend, Railhammer pickups have been designed from the ground up by Joe Naylor. The Railhammer Cleancut pickup is a hybrid design, which produces the punch of a P90 but with cleaner and leaner tone, plus more treble chime and less mids, for an open and percussive sound. These humcutting pickups are also completely hum-free.
For ultimate control, the Charger Cleancut is fitted with Reverend’s exclusive Bass Contour control. This allows you to passively roll off the bass frequencies, tightening the pickups’ response and making a humbucker sound much more like a single-coil. Because the control is potentiometer rather than switch activated, you effectively have an infinite level of control, allowing you to dial in your perfect tone.
As with all Reverend guitars, the Charger Cleancut is built with premium components throughout, including those you can’t see. It uses more consistent ±10% tolerance pots and capacitors (rather than the ±20% parts found on most guitars), and a Pure Tone output jack with dual contacts for a firmer connection, better signal transfer, and improved reliability. A treble bleed circuit maintains clarity when rolling back the volume, while the boneite nut minimises friction, helping the strings glide smoothly through the nut slots for enhanced tuning stability.
